Oswego, N.Y. -

Oswego native Crystal DiGregorio has been a busy woman in both of her homes in California and New York.

The owner of Club Crystal, located on Water Street, was in the Port City last week shooting the pilot of her newest endeavor, a Club Crystal reality TV show. Club Crystal Productions is shooting the 12-episode show in conjunction with Workaround Films.

“It’s about my life and the drama of owning a bar,” the 24-year-old said. “I can probably say this is the worst industry I’ve worked in.”

DiGregorio has had numerous managers and bartenders steal money from the club. “It’s non-stop stealing,” she said. In the latest saga, last week she had to replace her old manager with a new one. The show will feature a handful of characters including DiGregorio, her new manager, her bartenders, some of the bouncers and the DJ.

Other issues DiGregorio has dealt with as the club’s owner are two break-ins, numerous fights and someone turning in her upstairs liquor license without her knowledge or permission. It took numerous calls, overnight shipping and signing documents to fix that problem.

DiGregorio and her film crew were in Oswego Thursday through Saturday shooting the show. Filming already began at her other home in Malibu, Calif. Saturday afternoon DiGregorio hosted a high school event at the club where the crew filmed for the show.

She noted that she wanted to show high school students the production side of reality TV. “I just wanted to show the kids something different,” DiGregorio said. “There’s a lot out there in the world.”

This is one of various TV shows DiGregorio has been a part of. “I started doing all the other TV shows, and more and more opportunities opened up to me,” she said. One of the first reality shows she starred in was “Top This Party” on Lifetime. DiGregorio said the producers of the show wanted her to say mean things throughout the filming, noting that is not who she is. “If I’m going to do another reality show, I’m going to have control of it,” she said about her decision she made after Top This Party.

DiGregorio and her crew are returning during Harborfest to shoot some more of Oswego and actual club footage. Prior to this, they will be shooting in Malibu for three or four weeks. DiGregorio is unsure when the show is going to run because it depends on the amount of time it takes for editing and post production.

Besides shooting TV shows, DiGregorio has played some small-time movie parts including an extra dancer in a club scene in Adam Sandler’s new movie, set to be released in theaters next month, “You Don’t Mess with the Zohan.” She also played the lost girl at a party in Taryn Manning’s (“8 Mile” and “Cold Mountain”) new music video. After DiGregorio returned to California she began shooting another movie, which is a horror film, based one the true story about some of the bad things that happen to kids in Hollywood.

After being in movies, the club owner wants to shoot her own film. Last summer she planned on shooting  a horror film about a pop star who returns to her home town to deal with her psychotic ex-boyfriend.

Everything was set to begin working on the project when the Oswego Board of Education denied DiGregorio’s request to shoot one scene at the middle school. She said she envisioned two kids walking down the hallway and one of the girls would be picked on. DiGregorio said she wanted to shoot here “to give some middle school kids the opportunity to be in a film. People dream of doing this.”

She said she did not understand the resistance she received from the board, noting that she wanted to make a legitimate movie. DiGregorio said she plans on trying to gain access to the middle school to shoot one more time but if her request is denied, then she would bring the project to a community that would welcome her.

DiGregorio has also been expanding her modeling career and currently is doing a great deal of fashion runway. She recently did a bit for Spike TV, a tanning commercial for Solerra and is lined up to model some clothing lines. The renaissance woman has currently put her singing career on hold for her acting and modeling. “I do a lot of different stuff and do not like to be stuck on one thing,” DiGregorio said.

Another project she has in the works is opening a restaurant chain with her husband. DiGregorio said her son came up with the idea for the restaurant which would be geared toward kids and serve seafood. She noted it would be a while before the giant project is finished, but said they are currently working on developing the idea.

Even though the reality TV show is about the drama of owning Club Crystal, DiGregorio hopes things are settling down. “I have some of the best employees in the world ... We have a great team of people finally after almost two years,” she said. “You can have a handful of bad people in this industry, and it just clouds it all.”

DiGregorio said she would sell the club in a heart beat if she had a buyer. As for now, she continues to own the club and flies back to New York almost every month to visit her mother, brother and bar.
