Dick Delaney, campaign coordinator for the Novelis Employee Campaign in support of the United Way recently presented Melanie Trexler, executive director of the United Way of Greater Oswego County, with the results of their campaign. Novelis’ campaign finished at 117 percent of its goal, which combined with the donations from retired Novelis employees and the company match from Novelis Corporate, raised more than $124,000 for the United Way.
Trexler praised the employees of Novelis and was impressed by their overwhelming support. “Dick did a wonderful job with the employee campaign at Novelis. Eighty-two percent of the more than 690 employees that work at Novelis participated in the campaign. His enthusiasm and dedication to the success of their employee campaign play an important role in the way he shares the mission of the United Way. The collective efforts of Novelis Corp. and Mr. Delaney’s team are truly commendable,” Trexler said.
Delaney was pleased with the results of the campaign. “At Novelis we feel strongly about acting on our sense of giving and caring about Oswego County. We take pride in our support of the United Way. Our values on continuous improvement in our business spill over to our commitment for improvement in our programs that support our Community. By keeping community first, we have a sense of belonging that will enhance our feelings towards others and give us a feeling of pride. It’s caring for others… it’s caring to make a difference…and it’s caring to do something for Oswego County. I am proud to work with so many people that are willing to give back to the community. Our employees are highly active in their community, volunteering their time and money and serving on committees of charitable organizations. Novelis has proven every year that our generosity in numerous programs is always strong. Novelis also leads the way in its support of Habitat for Humanity,” Delaney said.
Delaney also praised the efforts of his co-workers for the success of Novelis’ employee campaign. “Our campaign was greatly enhanced by an individual who stepped up for the United Way. Carrie Denny served as a guest speaker at all of our in-house United Way meetings. In her presentation, Carrie spoke of a personal experience in her life and the support she received from her community and the United Way. The campaign would also not have been successful without the help of our document administrators. They are key to the process of leading the administration of pledges within our facility. This dedicated team consisting of Cindy Schremp, Brie Simoneau, Lorraine Burke, Cindy Finnegan, Karen Cloonan, Barb Krauza and Joyce Pritchard were assisted by Marsha Cummins and Carol Dillabough,” Delaney said.
John Mosher, Human Resources manager at Novelis, echoed Delaney’s praise of Novelis’ employees and spoke of the company’s commitment to the United Way.
“The United Way provides services and funding for agencies and programs that make a significant positive impact on our community. Novelis is proud to be able to partner with the United Way in supporting these important initiatives. Through the generosity of our employees, we were able to exceed our campaign goals, both from dollars raised and level of participation. I would like to personally thank my colleagues at Novelis for their continued support of the needs in our community, and the agencies for providing the much needed and appreciated services,” Mosher said.
