On Wednesday at approximately 3:46 a.m., the Oswego Police Department received a report that a 22-year-old female had allegedly been kidnapped from her Oswego residence, but was safe at the Webster Police Department.
Oswego Police began an extensive investigation and determined that at about 10 p.m. Tuesday, the female victim was in her residence when a known acquaintance, Scott C. Furey, forcibly entered her residence. While unlawfully inside the residence, it is alleged that the suspect intentionally damaged property of the victim in excess of $250 and physically removed the victim from the residence, forcing her into his vehicle.
The suspect then drove the victim to Webster and ultimately released her. During the course of the abduction, the suspect did threaten to kill the victim and the victim’s family.
At approximately 2:07 p.m., Wednesday, Oswego Police arrested Furey in Ontario, N.Y. Mr. Furey was transported back to Oswego, where he has been charged with kidnapping in the second degree, a class-B felony; burglary in the second degree, a class-C felony; and criminal mischief in the third degree, a class-E felony.
Furey was arraigned Thursday in Oswego City Court on the above charges and was remanded to the Oswego County Correctional Facility in Lieu of $50,000 bail or $100,000 bond. He is scheduled to return to Oswego City Court Wednesday.
“The Oswego City Police Department wishes to thank the Webster Police Department, Fairport Police Department and the Wayne County Sheriffs Department for their assistance in the investigation which resulted in the timely apprehension of the suspect,” said Oswego Police Chief Michael J. Dehm Jr.
