Oswego, N.Y. -

During the first week of April, members of the Oswego Health and Fitness Club on West First Street in Oswego were confused when they arrived for their daily workout to find the doors locked and a note explaining that the facility was temporary closed. As promised by owner T.J. Powers, the fitness club will be reopening and memberships will be honored. However, these things will happen under the watch of a new owner.

Although he did not name the new owners, Powers did confirm that the business has been sold. “Basically, there were a few people that were trying to partner up and buy the business,” he said Thursday afternoon. “We wanted to make sure that whoever we chose as owner would do best by our members.”

Powers did give a few details regarding the future of Oswego Health and Fitness, including the fact that the club will still be housed at the same location. He also noted that the new owners will be honoring all existing memberships. He was unsure as to whether or not the name of the facility will remain the same and had no information when the club would reopen.

As for details on his decision to sell the business, Powers just felt it was time to explore new options in life. “There is no big story here,” he said. “I’ve been in this industry locally for 13 years, and it was just time to move on and try something new.”

Powers added a sincere message to his customers over the years, saying, “I am really sorry for the delays or any inconvenience that this has caused our members. I’d like to thank everyone for their support over the past 13 years and I hope everyone supports the new owners as well ... I wish them the best of luck.”
