Pall-Times writers earn honors

The Palladium-Times won three honors this week in the New York Newspaper Publishers Association Awards For Excellence competition.


City editor Sarah McCrobie won the award in the Distinguished Feature Writing category for newspapers with circulation under 10,000. Her winning entry was entitled, “Survivors Still Struggle.” Co-written by then-staff writer, Lucian McCarty, their article told of the struggle of six migrant workers living under one roof a year and a half after being injured in a house explosion.


Sports Editor Mike LeBoeuf won awards in the Distinguished Sports Writing and Distinguished Sports Photography categories.


His winning article, “Race Against Leukemia,” told the story of Fulton Speedway teenage racer Katelyn Kane and her overcoming the odds both on and off the track.
His honored photo, “Winning Performance,” captured the effort and speed of Oswego High School swimming champion Hilary Callen competing in the 200-yard freestyle event.


The Palladium-Times
tied the Adirondack Daily Enterprise and Hudson’s Register Star for the most awards in the circulation category.
