One critical, another serious after Scriba accident

Two Oswego County residents were injured as the result of a two-car accident in Scriba, Wednesday morning.


At 9:58 a.m., Wednesday, county sheriff’s deputies responded to the accident on county Route 1. Both drivers were transported to University Hospital for treatment of their injuries.


An investigation revealed that Ian Ryan, 21, of Oswego, was driving a 2004 Subaru SUV northbound on Creamery Road and failed to yield the right of way to a 2004 Jeep traveling eastbound on county Route 1.  The jeep was operated by Mary K. O’Reilly, 29, of Mexico, which struck the Ryan’s vehicle with her driver’s side door.


Ryan was extricated and airlifted by Mercy Flight to University Hospital where he was listed in critical condition Wednesday afternoon. O’Reilly was transported to University Hospital as well via ambulance. She was listed in serious condition Wednesday afternoon. The Scriba and Novelis fire departments assisted the scene. The investigation is ongoing.
