Monumental collapse

Building collapse
By Harrison Wilde
According to a witness, workers were chipping away at loose bricks Thursday afternoon at the building formerly housing the 1850 House at 75-79 E. Bridge St., in Oswego, leading to the collapse of the eastern rear portion of the structure. The witness, who requested to not be named said, “They were knocking the bricks out and they knocked at a part with a big crack in it on the lower part of the building. The bottom started coming down and then the top followed. We had to wait for a huge dust cloud to clear, but when it did, everybody had gotten away safely.” It was noted that three men were working at the site.
