Harley W. “Bill” James, 80, a former resident of 201 W. Bridge St., Oswego, died Saturday, May 3, 2008, in the Oswego Hospital.
He was born in Oswego and was the son of the late Harley and Helen Carey James.
Mr. James served in the U.S. Army from 1945-1948.
He was a longtime employee of Alcan, retiring in 1985. He was a former member of Laborers Local 214, the American Legion Post 268 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5885.
Mr. James was inducted into the Oswego Bowling Hall of Fame in 1998 and the Oswego Softball Hall of Fame in June 2007. He also enjoyed golfing.
Mr. James was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church.
He is survived by his wife, Jane L. (Victory) James; one daughter, Sandra J. (Samuel) Froio of Fulton; two sons, Robert “Bill” (Linda) James of Gilbert Mills, Ariz. and Thomas (Maryjane) James of Oswego; one brother, Francis James of Oswego; one sister, Helen Henderson of Oswego; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two sisters, Laurraine Jadus and Theresa Bristol.
Funeral services will be 8:30 a.m., Wednesday from the Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home and 9 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church.
Burial will be St. Peter’s Cemetery.
Calling hours are 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home.
