To the editor;
Rural New York has a lot going for it, and the people who live here appreciate the blessings that they have. Now we are being subjected to a series of arbitrary and capricious decrees by some urban-minded progressive-liberal bureaucrats in Albany, led by Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) Commissioner Alex Grannis, who believes he should be able to dictate to us how we should live.

The proposed DEC ban on all open burning across the state is wrong for a number of reasons. Grannis claims that burning household refuge results in harm to human health. According to him, “This is a public health and safety issue.” But can he site a single case where someone has been diagnosed with any serious disease because of this type of burning? No, he cannot. How about a single case of emphysema or similar condition? No, not one single case. Can he site any accredited scientific studies that prove, not just suggest or postulate, a serious health issue? No, he cannot even do that.

Why is Grannis really proposing this ban on household burning? He claims it is “an effort to reduce the impacts of pollutants such as dioxins, particulate matter and carbon monoxide and to limit the risks of wildfires.” But are those the real reasons?
Grannis is a big supporter of the global warming scam currently being foisted on unthinking citizens by con artists such as Al Gore. And Grannis is already requiring power providers to purchase carbon credits, an utterly stupid idea that will do nothing more than cause electric rates to rise precipitously across the state. But he does not care about that since he feels good for his efforts reducing a global warming situation that does not even exist.

Grannis is an ultra-liberal bureaucrat who wants to inject the state’s jurisdiction into our lives. Like all liberals, he believes the ends definitely justify whatever means are used to get there, including deceit, half-truths and blatant lies. He is out of control and should be removed from office.
