On Jan. 16 at approximately 2 p.m., a call come over our radios informing us all that a driver (Brenda Phillips) was injured. Some of us were driving our buses and you can only imagine what went through our minds. Being the professionals we are trained to be, we all had to continue doing our routes to get our children home safely. We were all concerned about our friend and fellow employee, but we still had to do our job.

I know we all couldn’t wait to get back to the garage to see how Brenda was doing. Unfortunately, we all had to go home and wait for the call. It wasn’t the call we wanted to hear that she succumbed to her injuries. It was a most tragic day. Brenda will be missed by her loving family and by her extended family at Golden Sun Bus Co.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family. Everyday that we all go out to get on our buses, all drivers and attendants will remember that most tragic day. It will be in our minds and hearts forever.

Brenda, rest in peace. We know you’ll be watching us from above in your own yellow bus. We will miss you.
