The sixth-seeded Hannibal varsity baseball team defeated 11^th-seeded Cazenovia 11-4 in the first round of the Section III Class B playoffs on Tuesday at Hannibal High School.

The Warriors used an eight-run explosion in the top of the second inning to take a 9-0 lead and cruise to the win.

Ben Shortslef went 5-for-5 at the plate, with a triple and three RBIs for the Warriors. Ryan Sweeting tripled and drove in three runs, while Shane Crandell hit a triple and drove in a run.

Chad Burridge allowed four hits and no walks as he struck out seven and went the distance for the Warriors.
