Novelis Supermodifieds will have first points race of season Saturday at Oswego Speedway

The first points night for the Novelis Supermodifieds will highlight racing action at Oswego Speedway on Saturday.

The non-winged supermodifieds and the Pathfinder Bank SBS cars will be in competition at Oswego.

Meanwhile, there is an extra feature event on Saturday at Fulton Speedway, as the regular card is joined by the rained-out Crate Sportsman feature from this past Saturday.

Tonight at Brewerton Speedway, the big-block modifieds will be the featured attraction.
Here is a preview of action at each area track this weekend.

Oswego Speedway

Lighthouse Lanes and Oswego Sub Shop are sponsoring Saturday’s racing program at Oswego Speedway. There is discounted adult admission, plus, all Oswego Minor Hockey players wearing their hockey jerseys and accompanied by a paying adult get in free.

There will be a 45-lap feature program for the Novelis Supermodifieds, along with a 30-lap feature show for the Pathfinder Bank SBS cars. Mexico’s Mike Bond was the SBS winner Sunday on opening day, turning in a dominating performance in the #26 car.

Lighthouse Lanes sponsors the VIP Tower at Oswego Speedway, and also owns Double Deuce Racing in partnership with Bill Samuels. The team includes the #22 car, driven by Bob Magner, and the #2 car, driven by Pat Lavery.

The grandstand opens and practice begins at 4:30 p.m., with racing starting at 6:30 p.m.

Fulton Speedway

The DIRT modifieds return to Fulton Speedway on Saturday on Truckers Night. Truckers who show their CDL License get half off the grandstand price.

The night will start off with the feature for the Crate Sportsman Modifieds that were on the track when the heavy rains hit last Saturday. From there it will be a regular show of big-block modifieds, sportsman modifieds, street stocks, Rookie Crate Sportsman cars, Mod Lites, and the enduros.

A tough and competitive DIRT modified field is expected this season, led by defending track champion Jimmy Phelps in the family-owned J&B Installations #99j. Looking to dethrone Phelps will be top runners such as Alan Johnson, Ryan Phelps, Steve Hulsizer, Kevin Bates, Jim Witko, Mike Bowman, and rookie Tony Steiner.

Jeremy Pitcher is back to try and repeat his 2007 title in the Sportsman Modifieds in the MDV Construction #14. He will be challenged by Sammy Reakes IV, John Pietrowicz, A.J. Kingsley, and others.

In the UMP Street Stocks, Ron Hawker will be back to make a run at another track championship. Jim Wallace, Steve Woodworth, Dan Hoffman Sr., Nick Rizzo, Steve Crouse, and others will also be competing for the 2008 title.

Gates open at 5 p.m. and racing starts at 7 p.m. at the track, located along Route 57, just south of Fulton.

Brewerton Speedway

It will be Little League Night and Autograph Night today at Brewerton Speedway.
Kids who wear their Little League uniform and bring a paying adult get in free. Also, drivers will be available for autographs and photos during the program.

Racing action will include the big-block modifieds, IMCA modifieds, Mod Lites, and the four-cylinder super stocks.

Gates open at 5:30 p.m. and racing starts at 7:30 p.m. at the track, located along Route 11 in Brewerton.
