Oswego, N.Y. -

All nine Oswego County high schools were represented at the 30th annual Oswego County Girls Track and Field Invitational, held Saturday at Erwin “Jeep” Dewey Track.

The invitational was sponsored by the Oswego Buccaneer Boosters. Ribbons were presented to those finishing in places 1-6, with medals going to the event winners.

Plaques were awarded to Phoenix’s Ashley Palmer, voted the meet’s Outstanding Runner; and to Phoenix’s Anna Oliver, the Outstanding Field Performer.

Team scores were not kept.

“Despite the cool, overcast conditions, there were many outstanding performances turned in, both on the track and in the field,” Oswego coach Jim McCaul said. “This invitational is an example of the high caliber of track and field competition that takes place among athletes in the county. I would like to thank the Buc Booster Club and Athletic Director Scott Sugar for all their assistance, and the coaches of the county, whose support has kept this meet going for 30 years.”

The Oswego coach also thanked Dom and Sandy Pike for providing refreshments for the meet.
