Oswego, N.Y. -

The Oswego High School varsity boys track team participated Saturday in the South Jefferson Invitational and turned in some good times. The team continues to improve, Coach Erwin Dewey said.

Sophomore Ed Wallace led the Bucs with a second-place finish in the 110-meter high hurdles (17.2). He was just edged out by a Rome runner.

Mitch Galvin continued his fine season as he placed third in the 400-meter dash with a time of 52.7, barely behind the first-place time of 52.2.

Adam Johnson took third in the pole vault for Oswego. He cleared 10’. “He has been very consistent over the year,” Dewey said.

Oswego’s 4 x 400-meter relay team placed fourth with a good time of 3:48.3. The team was comprised of Eli Tyler (55.5), Ed Wallace (58.3), Fred Johnson (57.1), and Rudy Rodriquez (56.8). All of them ran well, Dewey said.

The Bucs’ distance medley relay of Pat Shafer (3:37.1 over 1,200 meters), freshman Ryan Taylor (55.2 for 400 meters), Galvin (2:12 for 800 meters), and Brandon Auyer (4:48 for 1,600 meters) placed fifth.

Also performing well for Oswego were Rick Lamb in the sprints, Cody Espinoza in the discus, Eli Tyler in the 800 meters, and Ryan Pekarek in the 400 meters.

Oswego’s next meet is Wednesday at Fayetteville-Manlius.
