The Oswego varsity girls track team had its three-meet winning streak come to an end Wednesday, losing 95-42 to Section III power Fayetteville-Manlius at the F-M athletic complex.
The Lady Hornets, repeat national champions this past fall in cross country, finished their season with a 6-0 record to clinch another CNYCL American title. The Bucs dropped to 3-2 with one league meet remaining.
“Despite the score, we had a lot of success during the meet by turning in many personal-best efforts and performances,” Oswego coach Jim McCaul said. “We knew coming into this meet that F-M was much stronger, which enabled us to change our lineup around to strengthen our team for the upcoming championship season. We left the track as a much stronger team.”
Senior sprint standout Monique Reeser turned in the best performance of her fine career Wednesday. She ran a fast personal-best time of 12.7 to win the 100-meter dash for the Bucs. “Monique is having another outstanding season,” McCaul said. “She is a perfect example of what can be accomplished through hard work and dedication.”
