Oswego Yacht Club sailors guide All J Regatta winners

Oswego, N.Y. -

The Oswego Yacht Club hosted the third annual “All J” Regatta this past weekend at the Oswego International Marina.

The J/24 class also raced for the prestigious J/24 District 7 Championships and the District 7 Pennant Series Champion, which is a J/24 World Championships Qualifier.

The event was for sailboats ranging from 22-40 feet in length and manufactured by J/Boats of Rhode Island.

The Oswego Yacht Club event provided sailors with two race courses with classes of J/24s on one and a mixed fleet of J/29s and J/30s on the other. Local sailors from Oswego, Selkirk, and Sodus were challenged by competitors from Canada, Connecticut, Ohio, Lake George, Buffalo, Rochester, and other locations.

Local sponsors of the event were the OYC Annual All-Event Sponsors. The National Champion sponsor is Labatt/Eagle Beverage Company, the Overall Regatta Champion is Burritt Motors, and Gold Flag sponsors are the Fitzgibbons Agency and Fairpoint Yacht Sales in Fair Haven.
Other sponsors included Annapolis Performance Sailing, and Memorial Sponsors in memory of Charles Krylo III, an OYC member and competitive J/24 sailor, are Modular Comfort Systems Inc., Charles and Inta Krylo, and Didi Paux of Woonsocket, R.I.

In the J/24 District 7 Championships, the top five finishers were “Rake Hell,” sailed by John Enwright of the Oswego Yacht Club; “Pee Wee,” sailed by Kiki Werner of Rochester; “Spirit,” skippered by Roger Voss of Lake George; “Drivers Wanted” of Toronto; and “Oz,” sailed by Oswego’s Tom Doran.

In the J/30 division, the top finishers were “Blaze,” skippered by Brendan Benson of the Oswego Yacht Club; “Crusader,” sailed by Oswego’s Dan Mather; “Cariad,” sailed by Oswego’s Chuck Dolinkas; and “About Time,” skippered by Dick Lewis of the Selkirk Yacht Club.
